Cheap Solution to Poop on your Keyboard

Does your bird like to “help” you type or play a computer game? I’ve had birds for six years now. Keeping my keyboards clean has been quite the challenge, particularly when a bird decides to poop on it.

This afternoon, I was sitting here workin on webrings and my new baby cockatiel, Jubilee decided she wanted to “watch” the computer screen. I had already been thinkin about what type of cover I could get to 0ut over the keyboard to catch the poop and seeds that birds always manage to drop on the keyboard.

Suddenly it came to me: I had some Glad Press ‘n Seal in my kitchen. I took a piece a bit longer than the keyboard. Then I laid it over the keyboard and wrapped it right around all 4 sides.

It has been there for an hour and two birds have managed to poop on it already. It is now covering both my desktop keyboard and my laptop notebook keyboard. What fun to NOT have to worry about this common birdie problem. I can now enjoy my online time and let the birds have their fun too.

If I remember right, the role of this Press ‘n Seal costs about $4. This is going to become a required part of my “bird supplies” since it is much nicer to wipe off poop than to have to dig it from in between keys. The seeds roll right off.

Jubilee Arrives

Jubilee cockatiel (female, Lutino, age 2.5 months) arrived today. She is very laid back and just wants to sit on me and preen OR sit on my desk and chew up the papers there.

It is so nice to have 2 female birds now that want to be with me. My boys have always been very independent. They like to be near me but not ON me!

Venus Arrives!

Venus arrived home today. She promptly inspected all the toys in her cage. She seems to play with everything so I will be making lots of toys to keep her busy.

Jupiter (linnie) and Liberty (cockatiel) are staying back and just watching her. I’ll see how long it takes before they decide she is part of the fid family now.
